Event was held on raising awareness against drug addiction and other harmful habits

An awareness-raising event on the topic of “Let’s say NO to drug addiction and other harmful habits!” was held by Ganja Regional Center of the Ombudsman at the secondary school in the Institut settlement of Samukh rayon with the wide participation of staff members of district Education department and schoolchildren.

The head of the Ganja Regional Center Sabuhi Abbasov delivered a speech emphasizing that event as a contribution to the promotion of healthy lifestyle, legal knowledge and importance of holding mass events in this direction at schools. He has given information about fatal health complications emerged as a result of the use of drug substances, cigarettes and alcohol drinks. Comprehensive information was provided on negative medical, social, legal consequences of drug addiction, and the legal norms of the criminal and administrative branches in this regard were brought to the attention of the children. 

It was mentioned that regular series of events are also held by  the ombudsman institution on the basis of innovative initiatives in the field of provision, protection and promotion of the rights of the child, which is among the supreme goals in our state. S.Abbasov provided detailed information about the Ombudsman’s advisers on the child rights in the office and regional centers, “916” hotline service, activity of the Azerbaijan Child and Youth Peace Network which is the Resource Center of the Ombudsman on Child Rights and the Leadership School under this organization. The successful implementation of Hierarchic Child Rights Education project at the Commissioner’s initiative, widely covering the rayons of our republic was highlighted.

Within the event proceeded with active discussions, questions issued by students were answered.
