Sabina Aliyeva, the Human Rights Commissioner (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Nicolae Roşca, the President of the Constitutional Court of Moldova.
During the meeting, the Ombudsman provided detailed information about the existing cooperation between the Ombudsman Institution and the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan for the purpose of more effective protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as inquiries submitted to the Constitutional Court.
S. Aliyeva said that mines buried by Armenia in the territories liberated from the occupation continue to claim the lives of both military servicemen and civilians, resulting in mine-related incidents that have killed over 300 people up to date. The Ombudsman also noted that despite repeated requests, Armenia has avoided sharing accurate maps of the minefields.
The Ombudsman emphasized that the fate of about 4,000 Azerbaijanis who disappeared in the First Karabakh War remains unknown until today and that Armenia bears responsibility for its severe violations of human rights and international humanitarian norms.
S. Aliyeva noted that both during the wartime and post-war periods, the world community was addressed with appeals, fact-based reports, and statements were prepared and submitted to relevant international organizations, ombuds institutions, and national human rights institutions.
During the meeting, Nicolae Roşca, the President of the Constitutional Court of Moldova, spoke about the activity directions of the Constitutional Court.
